Sometimes, we as parents, pass on things to our children without even noticing, and that makes the job extremely problematic. For example, we all have our positive points and personal challenges that are a natural part of our personality.
Since all people have unique experiences as well as personalities, when they are all mixed together, the result is quite an interesting dynamic. As interesting as this is with only one person, what will it be like with a spouse and children added in. Most of us would change nothing, even though what is faced as parents, partners, and spouses is certainly difficult. Taking your own life and mixing it with another, and adding in children and experiences is what makes life a good thing.
In front of your children is not the time to explode in anger with a full-blown argument. There are many reasons why this is not the healthiest thing to do. Children can sense when there are problems, and too often they will assume that they are the cause, and that is not a good thing. Parents think they are hiding problems from their children, but the tension is usually easily perceived. You can make this a terrific learning opportunity for your children by resolving the issue constructively. This approach can even be done in front of them, and they will have a good idea about how to use that in their own lives.
It is a fact among professionals in the appropriate fields that some personalities are more conducive to areas such as academics. Genetics plays a large role in whether or not your kids are interested in school or may not be at all. Some kids will have a strong desire to do things outside of school, whereas others will thrive doing schoolwork. Understanding your kids is one of the top priorities of parents that realize that once you have a feel for their personality, you will be more able to help them. Obviously each child needs to at least understand the value of successfully completing high school. If they need help with any subject, make sure that they realize you will help them by hiring a tutor if they need it.
Parenting has another fun aspect which includes watching your children grow up, and dealing with personality changes that are not so favorable. Dealing with these changes can be hard sometimes, however, if you are a strong parent, you will not be concerned and roll with the changes. As the children change, parents sometimes become disgruntled, many times finding themselves disliking their own children because of it. As children grow older, these changes are simply going to happen, and you need to, as a strong and positive parent, deal with that fact in the right way. The best way to handle it is to accept that it is happening and love them because they are your children which is really all you can do.

People do what they like unless they have been forced into something else, and children are no different. Success is a lot of different things, but success as a parent is directing a child in the right path.
