Finding a good Rhodesian Ridgbeback
Many people are choosing the rare Rhodesian Ridgeback dog to add to their families. More people are wanting to find puppies from this breed.
Some Rhodesian Ridgeback puppies can have areas of concern.
To begin with, the dogs health must be considered. For example, Dermoid Sinus is uniquely associated with the Rhodesain Ridgeback. Dermoid sinus use to be a much bigger threat, but now it is a fairly simple procedure to have it surgically removed.
Another thing that needs to be looked at is overall conformation of the parents. There are several different attributes associated with the term “conformation”.
Another important aspect that falls under the classification of conformation is movement. Conformational aspects also must take into account the way that a dogs body is balanced. A properly structured dog determines whether or not it will trot or run comfortably.
Temperament, or the general disposition of the dog should also be known. One of the most interesting things in the Ridgeback standard, is its temperament. For example, it states that the dog should not be aggressive. Older dogs might have a problem with children, but younger puyppies will be fine as long as socialized. Family pets should not have a problem being accepted by a Ridgeback.
Rhodesian Ridgeback puppies can be found in a variety of ways, but the best way is through a reputable breeder. The main thing to be concerned with when buying a Rhodesian Ridgeback pup is to find the right person to get it from. The choice of a Rhodesian Ridgeback breeder is one that needs to be carefully considered. The chief indicator of whether a breeder is an active participant in the breed is if they show their dogs. Reputable breeders can be determined by their active participation in canine events.
