A few thoughts on upgrading your home
Having taken on a refurbishment project we decided that we needed to replace the existing wooden staircase with a more contemporary one, we also needed to upgrade the internal lighting system which had become outdated and somewhat dangerous.
Working in Salisbury, Wiltshire we have just carried out a complete refurbishment of our home, once we had the general kitchen planning sorted we made sure we had the builder in before hand to avoid getting the new units covered in dust to make a gap through into the lounge and outside using oak beams to support the wall.
The kitchen layout was a simple U with a central island counter, with a hanging rack from the ceiling. The fitted kitchen was in a really light oak with spotlights highlighting key work zones. We placed extra under floor lighting through the kitchen and out into the garden and fitted external lighting to shine down onto the oak flooring or decking outside.
We had the Electrical contractors in Salisbury in prior to fitting the kitchen to make sure all of the cabling was in place. And finally brought in the lovely new oak Cabinets. We finished of this mini project with some gorgeous Marca Corona Evolution tiles which contrasted well with the oak but gave the kitchen a really warm feel.
Its always worth taking your time when choosing what you want from a kitchen. We bought lots of magazines and scoured the internet to find images we liked the look of, then whittled them down until we had something that would work in the space that we had provided. Keep a scrap book so that when you talk to people that can do the work for you, they will know the sort of thing you are after. We used a local timber supplier to provide the wood we needed for some elements of the staircase and a local electrical installation company came and sorted out the lighting.
