A Book Stand Makes a Good Gift for Readers
A book stand is a amazing aid for every true lover of books. Currently proffered types range from simple wire creations such as the Fold’N'Stow that supports a book at variable angles on just about any flat surface, to the infinitely more elaborate LEVO Bookholder that secures a book or other reading material in either a floor stand model or a clamp-on model that easily clamps to just about any table, desk, or counter top. Many book stand models function well with hard cover books, but most also can function very nicely with paperbacks held by book holders like an OpenPage.
The Fold’N'Stow is one of the most affordable of book stands. It folds compactly for easy storage and transport and comes with it’s own convenient pouch punched for easy use in a 3 ring binder. It may be used on a counter top for recipe books, or the top of a desk, table, workstation, bench, etc. Wire arms with page holders swing from the back to secure the covers and open pages of your book, and, by moving the arms either closer together or farther apart, smaller and larger books are readily accommodated. The back of the stand has horizontal pieces that can be raised or lowered to vary the angle at which the book is held relative to the surface upon which it is resting.
The most popular model of the LEVO book stand is the LEVO floor stand model, which includes a weighted rolling base for easy movement from bedside to treadmill to the couch, desk, table or counter top. Wherever you position it, it can support in virtually any position. Incorporating a bookboard which swings, tilts, cants, yaws and rotates into virtually any position, and coupled with book mounting straps that will secure your book, even in an inverted position, the LEVO enables hands-free reading just about anywhere.
The LEVO Desk Clamp on model is just as convenient as the LEVO Floor Model, but features a clamp that securely attaches to any table, desk, work bench, counter top or other flat surface up to 2 inches thick, and offers the same movements as the floor model, without the range of telescoping movements vertically. By supporting your book above the surface to which it is attached, the desk design saves the weight and expense of the weighted floor base while freeing up work space, since your book doesn’t rest on the working surface.
Even though there are other book stand designs now available, the Fold’N'Stow and LEVO book stands have stood the test of time and stand up well to heavy use.
